“ It was great to be out for some live music and a drink or two but the food....a simple plate in itself but sooooooon amazing! The flavours and the spice coupled with the traditional style of eating, really so very good. I wish i had taken photos but they wouldn't do it justice you just have to try it! UPDATE: I have now added some photos from a second visit, this time family style. ”
“ Ethiopian restaurant with live jazz. Simple venue, fantastic food, house wine is great, and the hospitality is awesome. Went on a night that featured the Moment's Notice Quartet. Loved it. This is the place for slow food and good music. ”
“ Great jazz in a friendly small venue. Dinner delicious and quite affordable. Nice listening-room vibe with audience respectful of the band. Good TTC access. Cash preferred for band cover charge. ”
“ Very quaint little place. Food was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. Saw a jazz quintet there. Great night out for dinner and some live music. ”
“ Great cultural music, food, and service is more than homely. I so recommend this place for good vibes, smiles, and a warm atmosphere. ”
“ Amazing music, amazing food. Most genuine and warm restaurant owner. ”
“ Food is delicious! We got the special which includes both meats. The musicians here are also great! Really good weekend go to place! ”
“ Hirut is a fantastic, welcoming place with superb live jazz music and great acoustics in an intimate setting. I recently went to hear the fabulous Vancouver Trio, with Amanda Tossoff, piano; Morgan Childs, drums; and the ever steady, ever ready, ever adventurous bassist, Brendan Davis. I cannot wait to return for dinner, and more live jazz. Just steps from the subway station, it’s easy to get to via TTC, there’s street parking for drivers, and the many shops along east Danforth are very interesting. Wherever you come from in Metro Toronto or GTA, make it a stop on you journeys about town! ”
